Background

As a club known for its major focus on course condition and with some of the finest greens in the Southeast, a turfcare machinery fleet and irrigation system upgrade were required to further raise the profile and quality levels across both Littlestone Golf Club’s courses.

Brief

With ambitious plans on the horizon to further elevate the club’s top 100 status and a budget of £3/4 million for a new fleet, a brief was put together that comprised a Toro wish list of cylinder mowers, rotary mowers, aerators, topdressers, sprayers and utility vehicles. The brief also specified the preference for a productive partnership offering comprehensive support, backup and service.

In addition, when it came to the irrigation system, the club could appreciate the benefits of having, if possible, an irrigation solution from the same brand as its machinery.

Results

Littlestone Golf Club already had a very good long-standing relationship with Reesink having acquired most of its fleet from the distributor a few years previously. After the agreement came to an end, the club decided to continue with the distributor and renew again for two reasons: the trust that it would be a good partnership and the desire to continue with Toro.

Knowing the quality the brand offers in its machines, the club chose to invest in its irrigation products opting for the Lynx Central Control system for its upgrade and this provided the quick and efficient irrigation it required.

Using both Toro machinery and irrigation saw turf recovery times improve, and a healthier, more refined finish across the board.
